Above: speaker Gertrude-Emilia Costin, of the Institute for In-Vitro Sciences, talks during a panel on "Assessing risk - out with the old and in with the new."

Below: Larry Burrow, of University of California Cooperative Extension, gives a demonstration that involved flying a drone for conference attendees. Drones, technically called unmanned aerial vehicles (UAVs), are the focus of debate about how they might be used in future agricultural production. At bottom, Burrow hoovers the drone slightly above his head in the Doubletree's rear service area.
